Mr.Read outlined the difficulties in having an unstaffed halt at Garston Lane, particularly due to collection of fares and issue of early morning tickets. To staff the halt would cost approximately £1,500 a year, including lighting and heating.
Messrs.Read and Gould are still considering the question and the former will look into the possibility of the use of ticket issuing machines.
Messrs.Read and Gould have reviewed the schedule of workings between Harrow and Belmont. As to the possibility of re-opening the service between Belmont and Stanmore, it was stated that this would entail an expenditure of £7,000 on the Chief Civil Engineer's account, plus expenditure on the restoration on signalling, and it was decided to drop the question of re-introducing the passenger service between Bemont and Stanmore.
Joint report from Officers of the two Regions still awaited. The Chairman said he would again press for the report to be submitted as a matter of urgency.
Noted - that the first unit had been on test. Agreed that provisional target date for commencement of service be fixed as November 28th, and Mr.Stanley to contact Metro-Cammell and ascertain firm date of delivery of units and advise all concerned. Sub-Committee to consider question of delivery of oil fuel by rail.
