Noted that diesel service was introduced on September 16th between Derby, Stoke and Crewe, and that the whole scheme will be completed on 6th January 1958, apart from 12 (S.E.) peak hour steam trains (6 in each direction) to be retained owing to the higher seating capactity necessary.
2. Harrow - Belmont Scheme
Noted that 3-car unit received from manufacturers on July 31st put into service on the branch on August 6th.
3. Derby, Nottingham, Leicester Part 1
Scheme
Scheme for fuelling and maintenance facilities at Derby (Etches Park) and Nottingham not yet completed. Awaiting further submission from departments concerned.

1. Wrexham, Chester and New Brighton (North Wales Part 3)
Preliminary report already considered and scheme now being re-examined.
2. Liverpool Central - Gateacre -
Warrington Central
Noted that scheme has been submitted to B.T.C. and approval is
awaited. Mr.Gould said that a further two units may be required
for the operation of this scheme and a supplementary submission will be made in due course.
3. Liverpool Lime Street - St.Helens -
Wigan
Preliminary report already considered. Scheme being re-costed and agreed that this be done on the basis of the alternative of 150 H.P. B.U.T. engines and 238 H.P. Rolls Royce engines.
4. Birmingham Part 2.
Revised timetables are now under examination. Units for this scheme are now in course of delivery and are temporarily being utilised in the Manchester Part 1 scheme. Part of the scheme can be commenced in April 1958 and Chairman will look into possibility of commencement being authorised prior to approval of scheme.
