Class 101 at Kilmacolm Last Train on 8 January 1983. I used to use the Kilmacolm service from Glasgow Central to Paisley Canal each evening on my commute home from work. This was the last train after arrival at Kilmacolm and I have to confess I think it is taken by my friend Douglas as my Agfa film couldn't cope! Alistair Ness.

Last Day. Despite appearances this is 107 435 at the buffer stops at Kilmacolm, having arrived on the 18:07 working from Glasgow Central along with 101 327 at the rear. Derby 107 435 (with Metro Cammell DMS) had been operating the Kilmacolm line for most of the day along with Cravens 105 373. Ardrossan Harbour railway station on Saturday 11 February 1984. Closest is Class 101 DMSL 53163, behind is a Class 107 centre car, and it appears the far power car is a Class 101. Ian 10B.
A 3 car unit forming 2G61 1328 Dunblane to Edinburgh approaches Haymarket East Junction, the service presumably routed through the Fife platforms to clear 1O33 1400 Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh, the DBSO of which can be seen in the distance. 47708 'Waverley' was the motive power for 1O33. 17th November 1984. Evening light on 17th November 1984 catches a 101 hybrid 3 car unit (101/107/107) drifting into Haymarket station. In the background a 101 heads to Fife whilst a DBSO heads to wards Edinburgh. On shed can be glimpsed a 40 and several units. Those familiar with the area will realise that I have taken liberties with the local signalling! Bruce Galloway.

The support arms, but not the wires, for the Ayrline Electrification have been installed at Troon setting the date to circa 1985. The Glasgow - Ayr electrified service came into operation in September 1986. 53160 and 59049 make up the first two vehicles in the Class 101 set. Andrew McConnell.

The "Fife Coast Explorer" railtour at Cameron Bridge on August 29, 1987. The Branch Line Society operated this DMU charter using a 3-car class 101 + 3-car 107 DMU formation originating from Glasgow Central and is seen here at the closed station of Cameron Bridge on the Methil freight branch. The platforms were largely intact despite closure to passenger traffic on 6th October 1969 when the passenger services over the truncated East Fife line to Leven were withdrawn. The line was retained for freight use serving Scottish Grain Distillers at Cameron Bridge, Methil Power Station, Leven Coal Depot and Methil Docks. Adrian Nicholls.
