The scene at Midcalder Junction circa 1983/4 after 107 434 (51994 closest) became derailed on the trap points. The empty stock had been put into the Up Goods Loop on the Shotts line for the driver to change ends, the set was to form a service from Kirknewton Station to Edinburgh Waverley. Waverley station, Edinburgh, around 17.00 on 9/5/87. Unit no. 107 434 (52011[nearest camera]/59791/51994) has arrived as e.c.s from West Calder, having formed the 15.24 from Edinburgh to that West Lothian village. It will subsequently work the 17.24 to Hamilton West via Shotts and Motherwell. Leonard Rogers.

A clean departure from Kingsknowe. Kingsknowe station in the western suburbs of Edinburgh closed to passengers in 1964, but after campaigning was reopened in 1971. Seen here in August 1987, a clean Derby "heavyweight" set 107434 (presumably 52011 + 59791 + 51994) restarts one of the Glasgow Central to Edinburgh "Shotts Stoppers" from here, next stop Slateford.
