The scene at Midcalder Junction circa 1983/4 after 107 434 (51994 closest) became derailed on the trap points. The empty stock had been put into the Up Goods Loop on the Shotts line for the driver to change ends, the set was to form a service from Kirknewton Station to Edinburgh Waverley. The train on the left is the Haymarket breakdown train. David Keppie.

A propped up derailed DMU at Midcalder Junction, circa 1983/4. The empty stock movement had been put into the Up Goods Loop on the Shotts line for the driver to change ends, the set was to form a service from Kirknewton Station to Edinburgh Waverley. A clean departure from Kingsknowe. Kingsknowe station in the western suburbs of Edinburgh closed to passengers in 1964, but after campaigning was reopened in 1971. Seen here in August 1987, a clean Derby "heavyweight" set 107434 (presumably 52011 + 59791 + 51994) restarts one of the Glasgow Central to Edinburgh "Shotts Stoppers" from here, next stop Slateford.
