A Class 107 DMU in Edinburgh Waverly on 4 February 1978, it has presumably arrived from Glasgow Central via Shotts. The set number in the cab window seems to read 141 with the vehicle believed to be 52021. Rob Paterson.
For many years it was common for Glasgow Works to despatch overhauled DMU vehicles to Edinburgh in the consist of the daily parcels train from nearby Sighthill parcels depot. On 27th December 1980 there seems to have been a mistake and one of Hamilton depot’s class 107 sets (59782 + 52021 visible) arrived. I can only assume that 40161 was being used to return it to the correct destination, seen leaving Haymarket station. Possibly one of the last workings for 40161 as it was withdrawn 2 days later. Murray Liston.
Sc52021 leads the 16:58 Glasgow Central to Largs & Ardrossan Harbour service through Lochside station on Friday 17th June 1983. The train is composed of two three car sets which will divide at Ardrossan South Beach. The leading set is composed entirely of Derby Class 107 cars and will continue on to Largs. The trailing unit is also composed of Derby Class 107 cars sandwiching a Metropolitan Cammell Class 101 trailer. This unit will terminate at Ardrossan Harbour where it will provide a connection into the Caledonian MacBrayne sailing to Brodick. Brian McDevitt.
Two 3-car sets of Class 107 DMUs await their next working (probably to Glasgow Central) in Ayr station on 1 August 1983. The closest vehicle is DMSL 52021, it has the digits 107 under the drivers window and the set number 432 in another cab window. The rear set has a Met-Camm centre car. Lewis Bevan.
Class 107 set 107 437 with 52021 closest (presumably with 59782 + 51998) is seen at St Rollox works on 25.05.1986 following overhaul and repainting into Strathclyde Orange livery. Andy Cole.
Set 107437 (52021 + 59782 + 51998) is seen stabled at Thornton on February 15, 1987, with a three-car Class 101 behind. Hamish Stevenson.
In April 1988 - towards the end of 1st generation d.m.u. operation in Ayrshire, Strathclyde liveried 107437 (presumably 52021 + 59782 + 51998) stands at platform 2 at Ayr awaiting its next duty. Gordon Thomson.
SC52021 waits to depart Glasgow Queen Street station as 47 704 arrives with a push-pull service from Edinburgh. Nicholas Youngman.
Class 107 DMU set 107437 (presumably 51998 + 59782 + 52021) on a Carlisle - Glasgow service, near Thornhill (Dumfries and Galloway) on the G&SW route. 5th August 1985. John Crooks.
Hybrid class 107/104 DMU unit No.107438 (52030 + 59215 + 53505) and class 107 unit No107437 (with 52021 leading) at Ayr station shortly before energisation of the overhead electrification on 23rd March 1986. Gordon Edgar.
107 437 (presumably 51998 + 59782 + 52021) makes its way into Glasgow Central in June 1986. Andrew McConnell.
107 437 rattles through Waverley Gardens on approach to Edinburgh Waverley. Probably on a working from Glasgow Central via Shotts, circa June 1986. If in the proper formation the vehicles should be 51998 + 59782 + 52021. Roof detail (the centre row of roof vents doesn't go to the rear and no water filler pipe) shows that the DMBS is closest to the camera. Andrew McConnell.
107 437 sits in Girvan, presumably 51998 + 59782 + 52021. Date unknown. Tom Clift.
