E50595 leads a BRCW set having arrived at the old Felixstowe station on 10th September 1978. This had been an Eastern Region set from new until 1982 when it was reallocated to Longsight, but lasted less than 2 years there before withdrawal. Murray Liston.

There was little over one year to go for the passenger services on the GN-GE joint line from March when 'hybrid' Birmingham R.C.W-Cravens unit E50595-E56139 was forming a March to Spalding service at Whitemoor Junction on 28 September 1981.
