The rear ends of Cravens vehicles E51269 and E56139 stabled at Cambridge in March 1968. Both vehicles were allocated to Finsbury Park, the trailer had been a Hull vehicle and once carried an NE prefix to the number, it can be seen that the N has been painted over. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Cravens driving trailer E56139 stabled at Cambridge in March 1968. The vehicle still has first class seats in the front saloon but no first class stickers in the windows. Stuart Mackay Collection.
During the morning of 10th March 1979 a Cravens class 105 unit No.E56139-E50371 eases into March station forming a Peterborough to Cambridge service. How the railway has changed when you look at the platform; Nestle chocolate vending machines, a porter's trolley, even a porter coming out of his office, not to mention flares and long hair. I wonder if that DMU was a 'cop' for the young enthusiast? The favourite vantage point, the road overbridge for looking into Whitemoor Yard, can be seen between the station chimneys. There is also some spoil offloading activity from rail wagons going on adjacent to the GN&GE Joint line platform. Happy days! Gordon Edgar.
On the old GN & GE joint line from March to Spalding, which closed in 1982 this picture was taken from Murrow West signalbox - a relatively modern structure which replaced the original following an accident at the flat crossing here in 1950. Cravens twin dmu E56139 + E51262 (Norwich set number 67) approaches with the 11.18 Cambridge - Doncaster service on October 30th 1980. Gerard Fletcher.
Cravens Class 105 2-car dmu 56139/51261 has just arrived at Spalding on the 17.35 from Peterborough on 20 July 1981. After a short wait it will return as the 18.07 to Peterborough. Lewis Bevan.
There was little over one year to go for the passenger services on the GN-GE joint line from March when 'hybrid' Birmingham R.C.W-Cravens unit E50595-E56139 was forming a March to Spalding service at Whitemoor Junction on 28 September 1981. The line was closed on 27th November 1982 and lifted a few years later. Gordon Edgar.

Spalding on 21 July 1981 - E51261 + E56139 have arrived on 17.35 ex-Peterborough and will now form the 18.07 back to Peterborough. Lewis Bevan.
