2-car Class 101 set C802 (presumably 51449 + 51521) and a 3-car 119 with two DMBCs (and an awfully high ratio of 1st to 2nd class!) pass Dynevor Junction, on the Swansea District Line (which bypasses Swansea) & was heading for West Wales. Tom Clift.
51449 makes a return to South Wales with 53240, seen in Swansea Carriage sidings on 11/3/89. Once a Cardiff vehicle in set C802, 51449 had returned to the Western Region after a period working from Heaton and Newton Heath depots. Mac Winfield.
Unit 988 (missing depot letter C), leading car 51449, is seen at Barry Town heading for Cardiff in July 1989, looking a little worse for wear. This car was nearly at the end of its life, being withdrawn in September of that year. Tony Walmsley.

Not so long after seeing my first Western Region allocated "Metro-Cammell" DMU at Newton Abbot, they started turning up at Hereford - as Cardiff received a few sets. Here is set P802 (presumably 51521 + 59550 + 51449 transferred from LA to BR in June 1975) waiting to leave on a Worcester bound service. It was unusual to see these sets in blue and white livery at this time, though later this became common. John Crooks.
The Lea Valley Railway Club 'The Royal Duchy' railtour at Wadebridge on 30 April 1977. The tour originated in Paddington and was loco-hauled to Par where two Class 101 sets took over, B802 (visible here, 51521 and presumably 59550 + 51449) and B800. They visited numerous places ending at Plymouth where the passengers returned to the loco-hauled set for the journey back to London. Roger Geach.
