Fire involving Class 101
Info from John McGrevey
51448 caught fire (photos suggest it was an engine fire) while running in set 101325 (the other power car being 51529) in the Polmont area. It was put into a siding at Polmont Junction where the fire brigade attended, the vehicle having most of the windows broken. It would be withdrawn soon after.

On a rainy Summer day, Class 101 three-car DMU 101325 with Driving Motor Brake Second SC51448 at the rear, had arrived at the terminus at North Berwick with a service from Edinburgh Waverley on July 22nd 1981. Although having been rationalised to a single platform, the station still retained its British Railways 1950's Scottish Region light blue enamel signage. The North Berwick branch was eventually electrified in 1991. Martyn Hilbert.
