A Swindon Works image (negative 5CR 211) showing the Guards area of brand new Cross-Country Driving Motor Brake Composite Sc51786. I have this dated as 18 January 1960 however the vehicle was new to Kittybrewster on 12 December 1959. This was taken from the rear of the vehicle looking forwards. The layout of the van of this batch two vehicle is identical to the first batch. British Railways.
A Swindon Works image (negative 5CR 212) showing the Guards area of brand new Cross-Country Driving Motor Brake Composite Sc51786. I have this dated as 18 January 1960 however the vehicle was new to Kittybrewster on 12 December 1959. There were a few detail differences with the second batch (compare with 5CR 71). In both cases they used the same moquette pattern as the passenger saloon, this vehicle has a back for the seat on the right, the first batch didn't. This batch has three heater controls (a 'local' for each of the two on the vehicle and a guards 'through' control for the whole train). The first batch did not have the through control system and the controls would be in the cab. British Railways.
A Swindon Works image (negative 5CR 213) showing the luggage area of brand new Cross-Country Driving Motor Brake Composite Sc51786. I have this dated as 18 January 1960 however the vehicle was new to Kittybrewster on 12 December 1959. This looks from the guards area to the rear of the vehicle, and is almost identical to the equivalent image from a first batch vehicle (5CR 75). British Railways.
A seven-car DMU formation arrives into Inverness, date unknown. The first Class 120, set 305 with the DMBF thought to be SC51785, has a 122 standing in for the rear power car. Attached to the rear of the second Class 120 is another Class 122. Thought to be taken circa 1976, Inverness depot had two passenger 122s at that time, 55005 and 55011. The closest 122 has one BR logo on the side, making it 55011, the rear one has two logos making it 55005. Image by http://www.the-transport-photo-interchange.co.uk. Stuart Mackay Collection.

Former ScR DMBF conversion 51786 is seen in Crewe station on 20 August 1986. All the passenger seating has been removed and the vehicle was in parcel use. Dave Warby.
Complete with Red Star Parcels logos, A hybrid Class 120/116 two-car parcels unit formed of Driving Motor Brake Seconds M51786 (120) and M53051 (116), was stabled in Croft Street Sidings at Preston on October 12th 1986. With the seats removed, the odd couple had been formed in the early part of 1986 for mail and parcels use. Martyn Hilbert.
With the spire of St Walburges Church in the background, a Class 120/116 2-Car Parcels Unit (51786 & 53051) was stabled at Croft Street Sidings with other DMU's on October 26th 1986. The set was eventually withdrawn from service in September 1987. Martyn Hilbert.
