DMBS W50059 leads two Derby suburban triple DMUs out of Widney Manor station with the 4.05pm Wellington-Lapworth service on 18 August 1958. Michael Mensing.
A Derby suburban triple DMU sits in Birmingham Snow Hill station in April 1962. The DMBS closest, W50059, displays "Worcester Shrub Hill" on the destination blind. The two power cars are unlined, unlike the centre car. Michael Mensing.
M50059 leads Tyseley Derbys suburban triple set 304 on the 6.3pm Stratford-upon-Avon - Honeybourne service which had just passed over the Evesham Road level crossing at Stratford-upon-Avon and is approaching Sanctus Road overbridge. May 1964. Michael Mensing.
Seen at Evesham in August 1964, the photographer has noted this as a Worcester - Stratford-upon-Avon service despite the Leamington destination blind. It is formed of set 304 with N50059 leading. Michael Mensing.
Derby suburban triple set 304 seen at Widney Manor with a Leamington service in early August 1964. DMBS 50059 leads, presumably with 59004 + 50104. The set would become TY504 and then TS504, retaining the same vehicles until 1983 when Class 127 TSL 59610 replaced 59004 as a means of reducing the number of vehicles containing asbestos. Michael Mensing.
With the DMBS M50059 recently repainted, Class 116 set TY504 is seen stabled at Leicester in June 1972. The other vehicles are presumably 59004 + 50104. Mel Smith.
Tyseley set TS504 seen at Sutton Coldfield in mid-1975. It is probably formed 50059 + 59004 + 50104. Michael Mensing.
Class 116 DMU set TS504 (presumably 50059 + 59004 + 50104) is seen with a Class 101 on the rear on Hatton Bank at 09:15 on Wednesday 11 February 1976. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Class 116 DMU set TS504 (presumably 50059 + 59004 + 50104) at Lye station in early April 1977 displaying Birmingham New Street on the destination blind. Michael Mensing.
Class 116 set TY504 (presumably 50059 + 59004 + 50104) at Hatton in the summer of 1978. Michael Mensing.
A Class 116 arriving into Manchester Victoria on 24 May 1980, led by M50059. David Mant.
A Class 116 DMU at University, Birmingham on 07/07/84. Partly obscured, the set number TSx04 and the corner damage suggest this is set TS504 and 53059, the 127 centre car is probably 59610. Steve Jones.
53059 is seen at Manchester Victoria on 29/7/87. Norman Cross.
Transferred from Tyseley Depot in Birmingham, a Class 116 DMU (minus its centre trailer Car), formed of cars 53059 & 53109 was arriving at Croston with a Preston to Ormskirk service on August 4th 1987. The leading Driving Motor Brake Second (53059) still has its Tyseley Depot chalked ID board in the front window (TS291 11/7/87). Various first generation DMU sets that were still in operational condition, were drafted in to Newton Heath Depot during this period to cover for the then almost new and ailing Class 142 Pacer fleet. Martyn Hilbert.
Seemingly borrowed from Tyseley Depot, a West Midlands Class 116 Suburban DMU, minus its centre trailer car was on the Preston to Ormskirk service on August 4th 1987. With car 53059 trailing, the interloper is passing Jubilee Mill at Croston whilst running from Ormskirk to Preston. The leading car, 53109 has the West Midlands PTE 'WM' logo behind the cab door. Martyn Hilbert.
Complete with Tyseley Depot Board in the cab window and minus its centre trailer coach, a Class 116 Suburban DMU with M53059 leading, makes an appearance on a Preston to Ormskirk service at Croston on the 4th August 1987. This was a time when there were unit shortages at Newton Heath Depot due to the unreliability of the recently introduced Class 142s. Judging by the date on the board it would appear the set was on short term loan from its West Midlands home. Martyn Hilbert.
Manchester Victoria on the afternoon of 20/7/88, with 53059/53117 waiting to depart on the 16.40 to Kirkby via Bolton and Wigan. Leonard Rogers.
Two Class 116 DMU sets depart from Erdington on 15 September 1972. On the right set TY530 (50884 visible) is on the 18:10 Sutton Coldfield - Birmingham New Street, on the left set TY504 (presumably 50059 + 59004 + 50104) is working the 18:05 Birmingham - Lichfield. Michael Mensing.
Class 116 DMU set TY504 (50104 and presumably 59004 + 50059) at Dorridge in May 1974. Michael Mensing.
In late 1974 M50104 leads set TY504 (presumably with 59004 + 50059) into Rowley Regis with a Kidderminster service. Michael Mensing.
