A Cravens two-car Class 105 DMU formed of cars E56130 & E51255 was stood at a forlorn looking Sudbury, awaiting the 11 mile return trip to Marks Tey situated the Great Eastern main line on an overcast Sunday 5th April 1981. The rusty rails in the foreground lead to the stop block at the end of the branch. Until 1967, Sudbury was a through station on a cross-country route to Cambridge. Martyn Hilbert.
Norwich Cravens set 66 with a Class 101 at Scunthorpe, date unknown. DTCL E56130 is closest. Paul Redmond.
With Victorian looking buildings either side, Cravens two-car Class 105 formed of cars E50382 & E56130 was stood at Norwich TMD on April 27th 1980. Martyn Hilbert.
On a overcast Spring Sunday afternoon in the market town of Sudbury in Suffolk, the run-down looking station was seeing some activity with the arrival of a Cravens Class 105 Two-Car DMU formed of cars E51255 & E56130 with the branch service along the Stour Valley route from Marks Tey on the Great Eastern main line from Liverpool St to Norwich on March 29th 1981. Since 1967 Sudbury has been the end-of-the-line, the station once being on a through route to Shelford and Cambridge. Martyn Hilbert.
A Cravens Class 105 two-car DMU formed of cars E51255 & E56130 had arrived at the market town of Sudbury, with a service from Colchester & Marks Tey on an overcast Sunday April 5th 1981. Much disused and abandoned infrastructure is visible in this scene, a legacy from the days when prior to 1967, Sudbury was a through station on a route to Cambridge. Martyn Hilbert.
E51255 + E56130 / E51268 + E56131 with the 1645 ex-Norwich at Peterborough on 27/7/81. John Carter.
The 2-car class 105 'Cravens' DMU sets were synonymous with East Anglia in the BR era as Norwich Thorpe depot had a large allocation. This scene on December 31, 1982 depicts an afternoon gathering of the class at Ipswich where five Norwich sets are captured line a breast but only four were placed conveniently side by side. Set 61 in the platform with people boarding was working 2R22 the 12.52 via the East Suffolk line to Lowestoft. The line up left to right comprises; set 31. 53375+54468, set 52. 51299+54429, set 66. 51260+54130, set 61. 51290+54462, and 51478 on the very left. Adrian Nicholls.
