"A victim of politics". The last passenger train to leave Kilmacolm on January 8, 1983. Stuart Rankin.
Last Rites. The destination screen has been reset and 101 327 and 107 435 are ready for the final 19:01 departure from Kilmacolm. In addition to a wreath, a headboard has been hung on the lamp iron on the secondman’s side. The headboard reads ‘Class 126 Farewell to Kilmacolm’ and was prepared after the then Swindon Preservation Society asked BR to diagram the remaining two Class 126 sets on the Kilmacolm line for the final day. It was not to be, but 126 406 and 126 413 were seen on the main line at Elderslie earlier that day. However, images on Railcar show the two remaining Swindon Inter-City sets did work the branch during the week. All that was needed was a driver and guard to bring 114 years of railway history to an end. Saturday 08 January 1983 alicia hartman.

Last Day. Last arrival at Kilmacolm with a six car set on the 18:07 ex Glasgow Central. Metro Cammell 101 327 triple is nearest the camera and 107 435 is at the head in the darkness. The destination screen will be turned one last time from Kilmacolm to Glasgow for the 19:01 departure. Looking at the crowd on the platform, just as well it is a six car set.
