Set: P802

Not so long after seeing my first Western Region allocated "Metro-Cammell" DMU at Newton Abbot, they started turning up at Hereford - as Cardiff received a few sets. Here is set P802 (presumably 51521 + 59550 + 51449 transferred from LA to BR in June 1975) waiting to leave on a Worcester bound service. It was unusual to see these sets in blue and white livery at this time, though later this became common. John Crooks.

The Lea Valley Railway Club 'The Royal Duchy' railtour at Wadebridge on 30 April 1977. The tour originated in Paddington and was loco-hauled to Par where two Class 101 sets took over, B802 (visible here, 51521 and presumably 59550 + 51449) and B800. They visited numerous places ending at Plymouth where the passengers returned to the loco-hauled set for the journey back to London. Roger Geach.

The Lea Valley Railway Club 'The Royal Duchy' railtour passing Respryn Bridge which is near Bodmin Road on the Lostwithiel side on 30 April 1977. It was formed of Class 101 DMU sets B802 (51521 and presumably 59550 + 51449) and B800 (presumably 51445 + 59549 + 51515) Roger Geach.

The Lea Valley Railway club ran a tour to Wadebridge on 30 April 1977 which for part of the journey used two Met-Camm units (B800 + B802) that were unusual in Cornwall at the time. It is seen at Polbrock Bridge near Grogley Halt on its way to Wadebridge with W51521 and presumably W59550 in view. Roger Geach.

Class 101 DMU set B802 (51521 and presumably 59550 + 51449) departs from Swindon. Date unknown, it seems freshly painted (into blue/grey) post refurbished livery but before a headlamp was added so circa 1980/1. Paul Redmond.

The 16:34 Milford Haven - Swansea service enters Whitland Tunnel on 30 July 1987. 51521 is closest, set S802 was normally a two-car at this time but it does seem to contain a centre car. Stuart Mackay Collection.

In the platform at Exeter St Davids is Class 101 No W51522 on 8 March 1975. In the shed yard are Class 52 No 1025 WESTERN GUARDSMAN and Class 25 No 25 274, shunting vans in the station yard is Class 08 No 08 930. Keith Long.
