An Easter Region publicity image (negative Y756.1337) showing a newly refurbished Class 108 with a Class 101 on 16 June 1975. It is seen near the former Calverley & Rodley station on the Leeds to Shipley line with Leeds is displayed on the destination blind. By this date only five Class 108s had been refurbished, all allocated to Neville Hill, no more would be treated till April the following year. British Rail.

One of the early Class 108 refurbishments with the small headcode indicator in the cab window (displaying 1G45) forms the 17:12 Leeds-Morecambe service seen approaching Skipton on 23 June 1975. Only five Class 108 pairs had been refurbished by this date, all allocated to Neville Hill, and it would be almost a year before any more of the Class were treated. Michael Mensing.

A proper 4-car Class 108 formation waits to leave Sunderland with 0926 Sunderland-Newcastle (all stations), while the passengers await the 0910 Newcastle-Whitby (departed 0929 from Sunderland - a through service to Whitby during the Summer only, otherwise travelled as far as Middlesbrough only). Note the manual signs suspended from the roof canopy, stating the next destination - written in chalk for the Middlesbrough service on platform 1. Graeme Phillips Collection.

A Darlington - Shildon "Cavalcade 150" Special at Heighington on 31 August 1975. Leading is a Class 108 four-car formed 50633 + 59245 + 59388 + 50644, followed by a four-car Class 101 with 50141 + 59577 visible, and a three-car Class 101 on the rear. Hugh Llewelyn.

An eleven-car DMU formation at Heighington on a Darlington - Shildon "Cavalcade 150" Special, 31 August 1975. The 108/108/101 composition of the closest set matches a formation listed in the November 1975 edition of The Railway Observer (p351) as 50645 + 59386 + 50232 / 50641 + 59389 + 50624 / 50224 + 56067 / 51509 + 59062 + 51441. One of the DMU shuttles that ran from Darlington to Shildon for the Rail 150 Cavalcade on 31 August 1975. Helpfully, the November 1975 Railway Observer listed the formations of these shuttles and this one can be identified as, left to right, 59388 + 50644, 50141 + 59577 + 59081 + 50189 and 51439 + 59538 + 50143.
