Taken onboard the RCTS 'Mersey Mariner' railtour on 26 November 1983 at Cavendish Sidings in Birkenhead, Mersey Docks & Harbour Board line, looking east. The vehicle numbers listed on the Six Bells Junction website show that this was taken from 51939 looking towards 53355 + 53812 / 52049 + 59168 + 51927. Stuart Mackay Collection.
On the GWR Birmingham to Leamington Spa line is Acocks Green station which is visible in the background of this picture dated 15 June 1987. My note suggests that this was a driver training run using class 108 T204 formed of 51939 + 52063 and this is possible as 2 car units were uncommon on this line at the time. This was part of the former 4 track section and the wide area of ballast on the right of the picture shows where the now-gone lines were situated. Peter Tandy.

Once a resident of Newton Heath Depot, A Class 108 two-car DMU formed of cars W51939 & W52063 had found a new home in the West Country, as Plymouth Laira set 956. The unit was getting underway from Dawlish with a well patronised Exmouth to Paignton service on June 2nd 1989. The unit along with other first generation sets had been transferred to the West Country for use in Devon & Cornwall following the banishment of the Class 142 'Skipper' fleet to the North. Martyn Hilbert.

With the Pennines just visible on the far horizon, a class 108 2-Car DMU with Motor Brake Second M51940 leading, runs through the West Lancashire countryside at Cocker Bar, Ulnes Walton, between Midge Hall and Croston with a well filled tea-time Preston to Ormskirk service on July 26th 1983. Martyn Hilbert.

Viewed through the blackened stone arch of the B5247 Bretherton Road bridge, a two-car Class 108 DMU with DMBS M51941 trailing, accelerates away from Croston with an Ormskirk to Preston service on September 5th 1979. The surviving single line along this route was once the Down (Northbound) track when the route was a double track mainline. Clearly visible here, the formation is slewed across to follow the former Up line in order to serve the remaining platform at Croston station. Its difficult to image now that non-stop Glasgow to Liverpool Exchange services once hurtled through Croston at 60-70 mph. Martyn Hilbert.
