The two types of DMUs that were fitted with Rolls-Royce C6 180hp engines - a Class 111 and a Class 110 - on Bradford Hammerton Street depot on 22 April 1979. The patch above the closest cab window on the 110 suggests it is E52071. Another Met-Camm of an unknown type sits inside the shed. Brian Daniels.
A London-bound HST set, with E43100 leading eases its way off the swing bridge and through Selby as a Metro-Cammell Class 111 2-car unit waits to set off for York on a service from Hull on 15th May 1979. The leading car of the DMU is E50134 which was the first of the Rolls-Royce engined Class 111s, introduced in 1957. This particular car still retains its original marker light formation. Selby's signal box and banner signals are also still in use on this former stretch of the East Coast Main Line. Syd Young.

One of the two vans in Barnsley's parcels siding will be attached to the early evening Sheffield service formed of this Class 111 DMU, which is approaching carefully to collect its load in this image from September 1979. After retrieving the van from the siding, the DMU will need to run round before departure. The parcels sidings were at the north end of Barnsley station, adjacent to the Leeds platform. In this view I am looking from the front of the station towards Exchange Junction, so Eldon Street North would be to my left. The DMU is obscuring the signalbox. Andrew Walker.
