Class 127 55985, set number 915, is seen at Tyseley on 03.05.1986 unusually coupled with 54052, and not it's usual partner 55975. 55985 was converted from 51619. Andy Cole.
Seen at Buxton on 3rd October 1986 in what is now in its second role, but originally built as 4 car units is this 1959 Derby Suburban now a Longsight allocated class 127 dmu set 915, 55985 (51619) + 55984 (51639). From new these units were almost exclusively used on the London St Pancras - Bedford services as 4-car units before being displaced in June 1983, in 1985 22 redundant power cars which had been stored at Carlisle were rebuilt to form 11 two car parcels units, car A was for Express Parcels and car B was for Newspapers, they lasted in service until 1989. A sorry mess at Luton station after 47 535 hit a stationary Class 127 formation on 28 May 1983. Despite the severity of the damage there were no serious casualties. The rear half of DMBS 51620 was destroyed, as was one end of TSL 59605. The other two vehicles in the set are thought to be 59634 and 51624. Michael Boot Collection.

During investigation of excessive wear in the torque convertors of the Class 127 units, M51622 was fitted with test equipment which caused the No.2 cardan shaft to break up near Napsbury on 9 February 1966. This is thought to be vehicle M51622, it shows the rear passenger saloon above where the cardan shaft would have been. The London Midland Region image (negative DL3838) was taken at Cricklewood depot. British Railways.
This is thought to be vehicle M51622, taken after the incident near Napsbury where the No.2 cardan shaft broke up on 9 February 1966. Taken at Cricklewood this is the rear passanger saloon looking towards the cab, the floor hatches proving access to where the cardan shaft was. A London Midland Region image, negative DL3839. A four-car Derby suburban DMU (Class 127) at St. Albans City, date unknown, but probably early 1970s. The leading power car, which appears to be M51623, is carrying a Cricklewood set number in the cab window, and has St Pancras on the destination blind. Graham Clark.
