467. SCHEMES UNDER CONSIDERATION BY COMMITTEE BUT NOT YET SUBMITTED TO B.T.C.  (Contd.)

1.  Wrexham, Chester, Bidston & Seacombe.  (Contd.)

During the tour of inspection the following were brought to notice -

 (i)  Chester Northgate

Roof Glazing.  Mr.Butland will arrange for this to be made safe pending arrangement of scheme for a low level roof.

Signing.  Mr.Salmon will arrange for completion.

(ii)  Seacombe

Sign in front of station.  Mr.Salmon will deal with.
C.C.E. will stop work on scheme for modernisation until the future of this station is clarified.

Lighting of platform.  As a temporary arrangement, three electric lights to be fixed to poles already in position and connection taken from electric light at ticket collector's gate.

2.  Liverpool Central - Gateacre - Warrington

The Chairman requested that this be dealt with specially and be given priority over the Lime, Street, St.Helens, Wigan scheme.

3.  Liverpool Lime Street - St.Helens - Wigan

Noted that information for costing purposes of this scheme will shortly be sent to Regional Accountant.

4.  Derby, Nottingham, Leicester Part 1.

The Regional Accountant's financial assessment of this scheme was considered in detail.  Mr.Gould stated that a total of 23 3-car sets would be required, 15 in circuit, 2 operating spares and 6 maintenance spares, and he will re-consider the savings shown in the original report in respect of steam locomotives and coaching stock.

Mr.Read said that it was now anticipated there would be an increased local revenue of £110,000, representing an increase of 42%.

The Chairman requested that the departments concerned re-consider the figure of £488,000 for maintenance and fuelling facilities and the complete amended report be submitted as a matter of urgency.
