Scheme approved by B.T.C. and will be put into operation on 14th April, 1958. Units now being delivered and temporarily operating in Manchester area.
Preliminary report already considered and scheme still being re-examined.

Awaiting supplementary submission from departments for two further sets required for this scheme.
Scheme now re-costed on the alternative of 2 x 150 H.P. B.U.T. engines and 1 x 238 H.P. Rolls Royce engines per power car. Awaiting decision on the use of Rolls Royce engines (see Minute 542.3).
Units now in course of delivery and being temporarily utilised in Manchester Part 1 scheme. Departments concerned to submit scheme as a matter of urgency.
