It was the intention that the building of the 24 vehicles for the Liverpool (C) - Manchester (C) express service should be interposed between the building of the vehicles for the St.Pancras suburban scheme and the 140 vehicles for the Marylebone suburban scheme.

(c)  Future pattern of passenger train services

Reference was made to the report on the above and it was agreed that copies be circulated to the members of the Committee for their confidential information and for discussion at the next meeting in regard to the planning on the production of the diesel multiple units recommended.

2.  Review of schemes in operation or projected

West Cumberland

Noted that the review of the Silloth branch and withdrawal of the passenger services between Keswick and Workington were included in the report referred to in Minute 651(i)(c).

3.  Allocation of units being built at Derby and by Contractors

Revised schedule of allocation attached as Appendix "B".

4.  Diesel costings.  Back-checking
Bury - Bacup Scheme

Noted that back-checking report now complete and had been sent to Director of Traffic Services for comments.  Short report, based on movement costs, sent to Secretary of Railways Sub-Commission.
