The Chairman referred to Commission minute of January 14th, 1960 in which the Commission agreed there should be no attempt to introduce the service until a clear assurance had been given that the rolling stock required was mechanically sound; also that the Commission would not exhibit such an important train until they were satisfied that it was competent for the task.
Mr. Pearson stated that on February 15th the Minister intended taking a run on one of the trains and asked Mr.Robson to furnish a report, before January 15th, on the position respecting the technical difficulties which had arisen. Mr.Robson stated that by February 15th there would be no change in the riding of the bogies, and he had no further information regarding the investigation being made into this point.
Mr.Gould will arrange for the train to be thoroughly cleaned for the run on February 15th.
(Note: Subsequently the inspection by the Minister on February 15th was cancelled).
