79012

1st June 1969
Withdrawn Derby Lightweight vehicles at Barrow on 1 June 1969. Both vehicles have yellow cab doors and damaged headstocks. DMBS M79012 on the left, with the top marker light hanging off, looks like it may also have damage to the cab corner on the far side. The DTCL on the right has split windscreens, and so is from a later batch than M79012. Stuart Mackay Collection.

975010

22nd September 1979
At Crewe open day on 22nd September 1979 Iris, the test coach was present. The unit was one of two that first saw service on the Banbury (Merton Street) to Buckingham trains, originally as M79900. Iris has become RDB 975010 and has "Train Control Group Research & Development Division, Derby" lettered down her sides. Happily the life extension as a test vehicle has seen Iris preserved. Geoff Dowling.

79189

circa 1964
A Derby Lightweight power twin arrives at Llandudno Junction circa 1964. Closest seems to be M79189, allocated to Llandudno Junction at the time. The vehicle was allocated to eight different depots (7 LMR and one ScR) before being withdrawn in June 1967, when it then spent a short spell as an Eastern Region route learner. Stuart Mackay Collection.

79187

circa 1965
A Derby Lightweight with DMBS M79187 in the sidings at Oxford circa 1965. It was likely in between services to Bletchley were it was allocated at the time. Stuart Mackay Collection.

79640

circa 1967
A Derby Lightweight unit, M79640 closest, on Carlisle Upperby depot circa 1967. A lone DTCL is in the shed. Stuart Mackay Collection.
