With West Yorkshire PTE 'Metro Train' branding, a two-car Class 111 DMU formed of cars E78971 & E78713 was passing Lostock Hall with a Preston to Leeds service on April 28th 1987. The pair of cars were renumbered in the 78xxx series following conversion to single engine cars in the mid 1980's. Visible on the left is the former Lostock Hall MPD, then still in use for wagon repairs. Martyn Hilbert.
