Class 108 DMU sets S945 (53643 + 59380 + 51925) & S942 (51928 + 59382 + 52044) are seen at Haverfordwest during a photostop while working the Monmouthshire Railway Society 'Robeston Rumbler' railtour. The tour started out of Newport at 09.05 and covered various branches in West Wales like Velindre Tinplate Works, Cynheidre Colliery, Waterston Refinery, Robeston Refinery, RNAD Trecwn and Fishguard Harbour. A hybrid three-car DMU with Class 108 Driving Motor Brake Second (DMBS) M51928 leading, had a Class 101 Trailer Car (presumably 59530) inserted between it and the rear Class 108 car (presumably 52044), forming a well-filled Blackpool North to Manchester Victoria service at Leyland on May 23rd 1986. The Crewe to Derby trains offered a good chance to photograph first-generation DMUs in 1992. This was taken at Stenson Junction on 10 July with T039 formed from class 108 DMBS 51928 and class 108 DMSL 52044 with the junction to Uttoxeter and Stoke-on-Trent in the right background. The lines on the left are part of MGR loop at Willington Power Station which was still in use at that time. Peter Tandy.
