Car E50250 is seen at Whitby awaiting return to Middlesbrough on 05/09/1977. It is in the platform that was taken out of use, but has since been restored to use for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Graeme Phillips Collection.

With the houses on Broughton Road as a backdrop, a Class 101/108 hybrid was leading a four-car Morecambe to Leeds service on the approach to Skipton on May 6th 1989. Metro-Cammell Class 101 Driving Motor Brake Second E53250 was leading, presumably paired with 53644, with the other two cars also being Derby Class 108's. Behind the units is the Tilcon siding where the wagons used on the Rylstone quarry workings were repaired/maintained. The siding included a wheel drop facility. Martyn Hilbert.
Class 101 Driving Motor Brake Second E53250 was bringing up the rear of a six-car Leeds to Morecambe service at Skipton on May 6th 1989. E53250 was coupled to Class 108 Driving Car E53644. The middle set being a Class 108 with the retro BR green liveried Class 108 53964/54247 at the front of the train. On the extreme left, Class 144 144003 was awaiting departure with a service to Leeds. Martyn Hilbert.

Class 143 Pacer problems in the north-east saw an influx of first generation DMUs to Heaton (HT) depot in the weeks leading up to the October 1987 timetable change (05/10/1987), including vehicles of Classes 116, 118 and 119 – none of which had previously operated anywhere near the north-east – as well as some rather tatty Class 101s from diverse regions.
