A GRC&W twin DMU in Craiglockhart station on Edinburgh Inner Circle service on 6 September 1962. DTCL Sc56317 is closest, allocated to Leith Central depot (64H) at the time. Stuart Mackay Collection.

Class 100 DTCL E56317 is seen stabled in a siding at Carmarthen on 22 November 1975 awaiting movement to a new life in preservation on the Gwili Railway. The vehicle had spent just 16 years in service with BR, it would stay on the Gwili Railway for almost 20 years. This was followed by 20 years of storage at a variety of other sites before disposal in 2016. Robert Thomas.
Class 100 DTCL E56317 stabled at Carmarthen on 8 May 1976. It was awaiting movement to preservation. Note the roof has been painted in two different shades.From memory the other side was painted red as part of a livery experiment. Robert Thomas.

Experimental liveries applied to E56315 (yellow) and E56317 (red), seen at Wolverton on 7th April 1974. Neither vehicle seems to have returned to passenger traffic, 56315 became part of the Fisons weedkiller train in July '74 and 56317 was in preservation by 1975 at the Gwilli Railway. Keith Gunner.
