Cardiff Central on my day trip of Monday 6th August 1979. On the right is Class 116 BR Derby Suburban set C333, W51148 + W59445 + W51135 which had arrived on the 09.17 Penarth - Cardiff and was about to leave as the 09.45 to Merthyr. On the left, still in all over blue is Class 118 BRCW set B468 W51310 + W59471 + W51325 which had come in on the 08.25 from Gloucester. It was attached to Met Cam Class 101 set B801 (W51446 + W 59547 + W51517) after this shot was taken and then worked the 09.55 to Weston-Super-Mare. Gerard Fletcher.
This is W51517 leading Met Cam set B801 (W59547 & W51446) at Cardiff on 6/8/79. It would be attached to Class 118 BRCW set B468 W51310 + W59471 + W51325 and work the 09.55 to Weston-Super- Mare. Gerard Fletcher.
Class 118 set B468 (51310 closest, presumably with 59471 + 51325) at Westbury 22 March 1980. Nigel Menzies.
A class 118 dmu (B468, presumably 51325 59471 51310) on a Hereford to Birmingham New St service exits Rainbow Hill tunnel shortly after leaving Worcester Foregate Street. The semaphore signals remain continuing to serve the junction for the two Worcester stations and servicing point. 6/7/80. Stephen Burdett.
A Class 118 DMU (presumably 51319 59471 51304) on a Swindon to Cheltenham Spa service departs Stroud on a misty Winter's day in 1981. Stroud station, a typical GWR affair, has barely changed in the last 29 years. The railways have changed beyond imagination and mostly not for the better. fgrsimon.
B462 (presumably 51304 59471 51319) enters Sroud station from the West over Brunel's viaduct on a Cheltenham - Swindon local service, circa 1982. fgrsimon.
P465 (W51307 + W59471 + W51322) seen at Par (Devon) in 1983. Graeme Phillips Collection.
Class 118 DMU set C470 (W51328 + W59471 + W51313) is seen stabled at Cardiff Canton on August 4th, 1987. Hamish Stevenson.
