Passengers line the platform at Ely as a DMU (GRC&W DMBS E51115 in view) arrives on the 13.40 from Leicester sometime during 1970. Tom Burnham.
The 13.20 from Cambridge to Peterborough North departs from March on 24 January 1971. Closest car is E51115, it appears to be a GRC&W / Met-Camm and Cravens / Met-Camm formation. The signalbox is March North Junction. Tom Burnham.
The blind says that E51115 is heading for Bishops Stortford, and signs in the cab proclaim it is set 73, "3 TUE" is thought to be when maintenance was due. Seen at Cambridge on Tuesday 3/8/76, it's paired with a Class 105 vehicle. Ian Francis.
Gloucester RCW Class 100 (Norwich set 73, probably with DMBS E51115 nearest camera) at Doncaster whilst "Pinky" 47370 heads a southbound coal train - c.1979 In 1976 Set 73 comprised DMBS E51115 paired with an unknown Class 105 vehicle. Class 100 E51115 at York station on 27 September 1980. We had travelled from Edinburgh overnight to join the RCTS (West Riding Branch) North Eastern No.5 Railtour but this meant hours roaming York station in the wee small hours waiting for the first train of the day to Leeds. Photographing this relatively unusual visitor relieved the monotony a little. Alistair Ness.
Longsight Lash-up on the Shuttle. Not THE celebrity pairing which lasted a few more years, but this is another Gloucester / Cravens hybrid set on the Stalybridge to Stockport shuttle entering Guide Bridge in June 1982. Here we see M51115 paired with M56465, both of which started their lives in Scotland at Leith Central and Kittybrewster respectively. They were both withdrawn by the end of the year. Murray Liston.
DMU leaving Yarmouth Vauxhall on November 14, 1970. The 14.47 to Norwich is passing the signalbox on a drizzly November day. The extensive carriage sidings can be seen in the distance. Closest is Class 101 DTCL E56364, furthest is Class 100 E51115. Tom Burnham.

TDB975349 + TDB975539 at Doncaster on 9 April 1990. 975349 had started its departmental career with the Civil Engineers department in 1974 paired with TDB975348 (ex 51115) but in 1975 it was split up as 51115 reverted to capital stock and the remaining vehicle was paired in 1976 with TDB 975539 (ex 56101) converted to a managers saloon in late 1975. It ended its days allocated to Cambridge Depot being withdrawn in 1992. It went for scrap at M.C. Metals in Glasgow and was cut up in August 1993. Adrian Nicholls.
