A four-car Met-Camm DMU is seen passing signal U46, which was about 3 miles north of Darlington, with a Newcastle service in 1964. This was not an as-built four-car, with TBSL, but a three-car with an extra centre car added. Stuart Mackay Collection.

27th March 1964

The original Bloxwich Station was closed on the 18th January 1965 under the Beeching plan. Demolition soon followed, the elegant cast iron columns and canopy being lost forever. The new station is not on this site and is one of the modern functional design. In Peter's picture on a grey and sunless 27th March 1964 an unidentified G2A is approaching the camera whilst a Metro-Cammell 2 car DMU is on a service to Rugeley. Image taken by Peter Shoesmith. On the 30th May 1964 a Class 101 enters Helensburgh Upper, the first stop for the 2.10pm Craigendoran - Ardlui service. Craigendoran was on the outskirts of Helensburgh where these services connected with the North Clyde electric services. Hamish Stevenson.

Two class 101/102 Met-Camm units form a Chester General to Woodside train at Rock Ferry. In 1965 when this photo was taken all local Birkenhead to Chester trains were diesel units.
