A Class 101 DMU with 53326 closest sits in Rochester station on 9 February 1988. It was working a shuttle service between Rochester and Gravesend due to flooding in Strood Tunnel. Brian Creasey.
I visited Redhill in Surrey on 5 March 1988 en-route to Penshurst to photograph class 40 D200 on a railtour. Only after arriving at Redhill was it announced over the tannoy that the tour had been cancelled and so this picture of Class 101 L839 was my sole reward for the journey. The people standing by the unit were other photographers as yet unaware in those pre-mobile 'phone days that D200 wasn't on its way. Peter Tandy.

This is near Mortimer station on the Basingstoke to Reading line on the morning of 1 May 1990 after a short walk along a convenient lineside footpath. West Ealing station had also just been refurbished, complete with fancy tiles and a not too informative clock! The vehicle numbers for set L840 were 53311, 59117 and 53322. Chris McKee.
Despite living by the Reading-Tonbridge line when WR dmus took over the service, I only ever got this one picture of a Metro-Cammell Class 101 dmu. The Class 101s were intended to be the replacements for the Tadpoles, and one appeared on the 07:44 Tonbridge-Redhill a few times in "corporate blue" days, but they were found to be unsuitable from the outset and were covered by other types until the Class 119s arrived. This picture was taken much later, about 10 years after the changeover, and shows a 101 leaving Guildford for Reading. Tony Watson.
