E50225 and E56388 pass Bensham, Gateshead with a service from the Tyne Valley line heading into Newcastle on 05/03/1983. They are about to head into a tunnel under the East Coast Main Line. The vehicle was new to Sunderland on 16 July 1959 and would always be a North Eastern vehicle, other allocations being South Gosforth, Neville Hill and Heaton. Withdrawn in March 1988 it would be cut at Vic Berry's the following year. Metropolitan Cammell.
