101365 and 307 forms the 09:30 Livingston Link - Edinburgh service at Livingston South on October 6, 1984, the day that the station opened. Hamish Stevenson.
101324 stands at Stirling formed DMS 53245 (nearest) with TBS 59112 and DMBS 51253 (curiously containing two brake vans!) on 29/Mar/1986. I could not find any record of 53245 listed in 101324 in contemporary set lists although 51253 was, so maintenance requirements or failures might have caused reformations, which might also account for the two brake vans in the set. Another three car set listed had no brake van at all so both may have been temporary formations. Robert Chilton.
Met-Camm DMU set 101355 (53245 closest) departs from Edinburgh Waverley in 10 August 1988. Stuart Mackay Collection.
A hybrid cl.101/110 set, with 51180 leading 59701 and 53245 (the last being ex- ScR set 101 365), departs from Brough on the 17.11 to Hull on 18/4/90. This service was mainly for the benefit of homegoing workers from the adjacent BAe aircraft factory. Leonard Rogers.
A class 101/116 hybrid set T036 formed of 53245 + 53054 was pictured descending Hatton Bank forming the 14.12 Stratford-upon-Avon to Leamington service in place of the usual single or double class 122 set. The Down Goods Loop was very rarely used at this time as there was plenty of time between local trains, the only passenger services on the line at the time, for the frequent freight workings. Peter Tandy.
Hybrid class 101/116 DMU TS036 (cars 53245 and 53054) seen pausing at Warwick with a service for Leamington Spa in spring 1992. Bob Belcher.
A hybrid 2-car DMU, T036 (53245 + 53054) based at Tyseley, arrives at Peterborough with a service from Doncaster on 31 December 1992. There is a photo on Flickr of this same unit operating the 12.10 from Doncaster, which ran via Sleaford, so I think this must be that train. Lewis Bevan.
Hybrid Class 101 DMSL No. 53245 and Class 116 DMBS No. 53054, forming set No. T036, arrive at Lincoln Central working the 12:45 service from Sheffield on 19 February 1993. Brian Creasey.
E50246 + E56079 at Bishop Auckland on November 11, 1981. Demolition of the triangular station is well underway. Darlington DMUs still used the platform on the closed route from Durham before being relocated to a new and much smaller station to the left of where the signalbox was John Carter.

A Class 101 formed of two DMBSs, 53247 carrying set number P872 and 53157, Exeter St Davids 30 July 1988. Keith Miller.
According to my notes, this is either E50248 or E56082 - I think it's the former as I can't see a First Class yellow stripe, which means that it is a Class 101/2 built by Metro-Cammell in 1957. It is waiting to form the 1410 South Shields to Newcastle on 9 September 1975, around six years before the line was closed for conversion as part of the Tyne & Wear Metro system. The line had been worked by third rail EMUs until 1963. Jeremy Chapter.

P873 (presumably 53248 + 53637) has just arrived at Newquay's rationalised terminus, with the 1025 from Par, on Thursday 30 June 1988. Mel Holley.

A Class 101/108 hybrid DMU (53248 and presumably 53637) departs from Exeter St Davids on 29 March 1989. Exmouth is on the destination blind. Stuart Mackay Collection.
A Class 101/108 hybrid two-car DMU formed of cars 53248 & 53637 (873) was departing from Starcross with an Exeter St Davids to Paignton service on May 30th 1989. The set was one of several cobbled together first generation DMU's that had been sent to Plymouth Laira following the transfer of the 'Skipper' Class 142 fleet to the North. The set was withdrawn whilst at Laira in 1991 following the arrival of some Class 150/2 Sprinters. Martyn Hilbert.
