Plymouth Laira allocated Class 101 DMU set 829 (DMBS 53157, TBSL 59093, DMCL 51500) at Exeter St Davids on 18 March 1990. Dave Warby.
A three-car Class 101 DMU formed of cars 53157, 59093 & 51500 (829) was arriving at Starcross with the 16.35 Paignton to Exeter Central service on May 30th 1990. The 101 was one of several first generation DMU's transferred to Plymouth Laira following the demise of the Class 142 'Skipper' fleet in the West Country. Many sets were cobbled together until sufficient Class 150/2 Sprinters became available. Martyn Hilbert.

A three-car trailer brake Met-Camm DMU is seen in Thornton Junction station on 1 October 1969, just a few days before closure. Closest with Leven on the destination blind is DMC SC50158, at the time allocated to Dundee. The vehicle would spend the first 32 of its 35 year career on the Scottish Region. Dundee only had one TBSL at the time - SC59074. Transferred to the Scottish Region in 1966 where it remained - other than a brief spell at Chester - until withdrawal in 1991. Stuart Mackay Collection.
The classic view of the Forth Bridge from North Queensferry sees 101229 coming off the bridge with blue/grey 50158 leading two rail blue classmates, 8/Sep/1979. Robert Chilton.
Sc50158 is being rescued by 46 014 after failing in Haymarket station, 25th September 1982. Stuart Mackay.
SC50158 is the lead vehicle in this failed set that is being hauled by 46014 when seen at Haymarket on 25/9/82. Stuart Mackay.
Sc 53158 leads set 101 303 departing Glasgow Central on 6-11-84. Spannerman37025.
Two Class 101s at Stranraer, with 101360 (presumably 53158 + 59074 + 53160) closest. The slide process date was August 1985. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Met-Camm set 101 360 (presumably 53158 closest) in Largs station in 1986, just prior to electrification. John Law.
A trio at Ardeer. The electrification masts are just waiting for the knitting as 101360 (presumably 53158 + 59074 being the first two vehicles) on a Glasgow Central to Ardrossan working (I think) passes 26031 and rather cleaner sister loco shunting ballast stock at Ardeer near Stevenston. The ICI Nobel Ardeer facility is off to right with one of the works shunters (poss Paxman 7825 of 1958) visible. Most of the site has now been cleared except for a small section operated by Chemring. 7th June 1986. Bruce Galloway.
A Class 101 DMU arrives into Glasgow Central station on 6 August 1986. Labelled 101360 it is presumably 53158 leading. Andrew Malloy.
SC53158 at the front of 101360 in Glasgow Central station circa 1987. The TBS should be 59074. Andrew McConnell.
Class 101 Trailer Brake set 101360 in Edinburgh Waverley, the slide process date was May 1987. 53158 appears to be the closest vehicle, the other two are presumably 59074 and 53160. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Burnt (island) Jaffa Cakes. Strathclyde PTE "Jaffa Cake" liveried Met Camm set 101360 (presumably 53158 closest) leaves Burntisland with an Edinburgh bound working in August 1987. Murray Liston.
Class 101 DMU set 101360 (presumably 53158 closest) at Burntisland in August 1987. By this time it was a case of "anything goes" on Fife Circle workings so SPT orange livery was not that unusual. Alistair Ness.
The 11.23 from Haymarket via Shotts is seen arriving at Glasgow Central at 12.57 on 11/7/89. Set 101 360 (53160/59074/53158) has 53158 trailing. In Summer 1989 the south tunnel at Haymarket was closed for electrification works, preventing access to Waverley from the Slateford direction, so the Glasgow Central services were terminating at, and starting from, Haymarket. Leonard Rogers.
