Set 105 376 (a 105/107/107 hybrid) in Kilmacolm station forming the 11:01 to Glasgow Central on the 4th January 1983. The branch would be closed just days later. Note the patch on the roof above the van where the exhaust pipes formerly were, they are now at the rear of the vehicle. Hamish Stevenson.
Cravens / Derby lash up 105 376 is being readied for departure from Paisley Canal on a Glasgow Central - Kilmacolm service. An old notebook suggests this is Cravens DMBS E51493 + Derby TSL Sc59790 + Derby DMBS Sc52004. Whilst the majority of services at Canal were the hourly all station Kilmacolm services, there were a couple of services to / from Largs or Ardrossan with additional peak hour services to / from Canal. Tuesday 04 January 1983. alicia hartman.
Mixed 105 376 Cravens / Derby Set coasts into Paisley Canal with a Kilmacolm - Glasgow Central working. An old notebook suggests this is Cravens DMBS E51493 + Derby TSL Sc59790 + Derby DMBS Sc52004. Passenger services would cease the following Saturday. A Paisley Canal - Glasgow service was resurrected in 1990 albeit from a new station on the Glasgow side of Causeyside Street, to the east. The land here to the west was sold off in due haste post closure and built over. Thus the realistic prospect of the Canal line being returned as a through route was stymied. Tuesday 04 January 1983. alicia hartman.
Rule 55 Exempt. Cravens / Derby lash up 105 376 passes Paisley Canal Signal Box on a dreich afternoon. It is heading towards Elderslie on a Glasgow Central - Kilmacolm service. Tuesday 04 January 1983. alicia hartman.
Last Days. Cravens E51493 at Glasgow Central having arrived as part of a late afternoon working from Kilmacolm along with its Derby partners. An old notebook suggests this is probably Cravens DMBS E51493 + Derby TSL Sc59790 + Derby DMBS Sc52004 which was used on Kilmacolm services on 04 January. Homeward bound commuters seem to be drifting along the then Platform 13 for another service, past the 'Front Train Beyond This Point' board in the distance. This would now be Platform 15 at Central. Probably Friday 07 January 1983. alicia hartman.
Last Days. Mixed 105 376 (105-107-107) rolls into Houston and Crosslee station. A view from Barochan Road and a solitary passenger awaits the returning Kilmacolm to Glasgow service, Friday 07 January 1983. One wonders if they knew there would be no trains on Monday? There were nearby road signs for a local hospital, which may have been Merchiston House, behind the trees on the left. alicia hartman.
Last Days. An afternoon Glasgow Central - Kilmacolm service with mixed 105 376 (Class 105 / 107) is heading west from Houston and Crosslee. The train has passed under Sandholes Road and is heading towards the Lochermill Viaduct thence Bridge of Weir. An old notebook suggests this is probably Cravens DMBS E51493 + Derby TSL Sc59790 + Derby DMBS Sc52004 which was used on Kilmacolm services earlier that week on 04 January. The outskirts of Bridge of Weir are visible in the distance, above the train. It is still possible to travel along here - but on a bicycle on the National Cycle Network! Probably Friday 07 January 1983. alicia hartman.
