Class 116 unit TS537 of Tyseley depot and carrying "WM" branding on the front (believed to comprise vehicles 51130 + 59627 + 51143) pausing at Solihull station on a September evening in 1984 on a local service to Leamington Spa. Bob Belcher.
In the days when it was possible to sit at the front of a diesel multiple unit and (assuming that the driver had not lowered the blind) it was possible to enjoy a "driver's eye" view of the track ahead. On board a class 116 unit as a similar unit passes in the opposite direction on the section of route between Solihull and Lapworth that used to be four tracks. A pair of WMPTE class 116 dmus (TS624 and presumably 51130 closest with 59615 + 51143) forming one of the Coalville Open day shuttles, having traveled on this along the freight only line from Leicester to Coalville, the train is now loading up again before continuing to Burton-on-Trent. 1st September 1985. A 2-car hybrid set from Tyseley (set T034) at Boston on 6 November 1991 working a Nottingham-Skegness service. The two dmu vehicles are 51130 + 52042. 52042 was a Class 108 driving car, and was new in September 1960. It was withdrawn from service at Tyseley on 5 October 1992 and was scrapped by Booth Roe in Rotherham. 51130 was a Class 116 driving car and was new in August 1958. It was withdrawn from service, also at Tyseley, in March 1992 and was scrapped by Mayer Parry in Snailwell. Lewis Bevan.

Stourport-on-Severn station on 5 April 1969. Train is the 13.45 to Kidderminster via Bewdley (reverse), formed of set TY538, presumably M51131 + 59441 + 51144. The lower ground on the left was the site of sidings leading down to a canal basin. The scene is now completely changed, with a housing estate where the railway used to be. Even St Michael's Church on the right was partly demolished in about 1980; it was begun to 1881 by George Gilbert Scott and was unfinished when it was consecrated in 1910. A temporary station was opened here as part of the Iron Bridge bi-centenary celebrations with shuttle trains operating down the Power Station branch from Wolverhampton on Sundays. On 8 July I was the only passenger on the outward journey and using a free staff pass! Alistair Ness.
