3.  Allocation of units being built at Derby and by Contractors

(b)  Periodical return of units in operation.
Noted that as a result of Mr.Varley's contact with the B.T.C. section concerned, enquiries are being made into the duplication of information in returns.  After further consideration it was decided that Messrs.Varley, Adkinson and Allsop would re-examine the question with a view to a formal approach to the Commission on the standardisation of the returns.

4.  Conveyance of Parcels Traffic

Three diesel parcels vans are on order for the West Cumberland Area, delivery October 1957.  - Noted that, it has been decided that the two parcels vans required for the Manchester Part 2 scheme and two for St.Pnacras suburban scheme be fitted with two 238 H.P. Rolls Royce engines under a 63'6" vehicle, thus enabling them to convey a tail load of 32 tons, i.e. a brake van corridor.

It was agreed that the B.T.C. be advised of the further requirement of four vans prior to these schemes being submitted.

5.  Dieselisation costings

(a)  General Manager's request of 8th February 1957 - Mr.Allsop produced charts which had been prepared and after further consideration the Chairman said he would speak to Mr.Harris on this question.

(b)  Request from C.T.C.C. for charts showing operating costs and receipts for schemes in operation.  Mr.Allsop stated that a chart had been produced for the West Cumberland scheme and it is anticipated that all the charts will be ready for consideration at the next meeting.

6.  Design of Units

(a)  B.U.T. power equipments.  - Noted that the two 230 H.P. engines of normal aspiration have been fitted to a Derby prototype steel vehicle, and are now being tested.

(b)  Coupling together of units  - Noted that attention of B.T.C. and other Regions has been called to the difficulty which is being experienced and which can be anticipated with the multiplicity of types of vehicles.  B.T.C. have replied that the matter is being examined.
