(c)  Passenger Traffic Plan

It was noted that the report of the Working Party had been drafted and that the Chairman and Mr.Arkle would shortly consider this having regard to the report on Electrification.  Copies of the final Passenger Traffic Plan to be sent to all members of the Diesel Trains Committee.

2.  Design of Units

(a)  Diesel Fuel Additive

Noted that the views of the Research Department were being obtained.

3.  Allocation of units being built at Derby and by Contractors

Revised schedule of allocation attached as Appendix "B".

701.  RAIL BUSES FOR RURAL AREAS

1.  Buckingham - Banbury Service

Noted that the proposal for the withdrawal of passenger services on this line, for consideration by the East Midland Area T.U.C.C., had been deferred to September 9th.

2.  Bedford - Hitchin - Northampton Services

Noted report from D.T.S. showing that introduction of rail buses had resulted in decreased costs and increased receipts, but the branches were still far from remunerative.

Mr.Horner said his information showed that the lines were about breaking even, and Mr.Jessop noted this for consideration when the proposal for the withdrawal of the passanger service was being prepared.
