714.  SCHEMES AWAITING COMMISSION APPROVAL   (Contd.)

1.  Marylebone Suburban Service   (Contd.)

(c) Construction of Units

Noted that delivery of 35 4-car sets would commence in January 1960, and should continue at the rate of 4 1/2 vehicles per week until completion in September 1960.

(d) Marylebone Carriage Shed

Mr.Reynolds said that is was at the moment visualised that on the High Wycombe line a small number of off peak diesel services would be brought into operation in existing steam timings on April 29th, and this service should be completely operated by diesels on the 11th June, 1960.  The substitution of the present Aylesbury steam service by diesel units running in steam timings was planned for the winter timetable 1960, but up to the present the provision of maintenance and fuelling facilities at the shed had not commenced.  It was stated that some difficulty was being experienced with regard to the siting of a new washing machine to replace the obsolete machine, and it was agreed that the necessary alterations to the shed and the provision of fuelling facilities be commenced forthwith, without regard to the siting of the washing machine.  Fuelling facilities will be required for February 25th when units will be working for staff training purposes.
