Met-Cammell DMU 51252 Under repair in the workshop at Doncaster Works on 17th June 1978. Note the blue disc marked 'Asb', no doubt a warning that asbestos is present. David Scott.
DMBS E51252 and DTS(L) E56404 are seen working the 14:38 South Shields - Newcastle, just departed from High Shields station, which is visible in the background to the extreme left, on 14/2/81. This station closed on 30/05/1981, and the route was converted to the Tyneside Metro network - this station did not survive, Chichester station being constructed at a different location. Surviving structures on the skyline include the gasometer (left, behind station), and South Shields Town Hall clock tower (centre right). Graeme Phillips Collection.
A Class 101 DMU with E51252 closest at Stockton, date unknown. Middlesbrough is on the destination blind. Paul Redmond.
Norwich allocated Class 101 DMU set 75 (51252 + 54400) departs from Thurston at 12:27 with the 11.30 Cambridge to Ipswich service on 9 March 1985. Rob Paterson.
Met-Camm set 76, DMBS 51252 closest, thought to be between Reedham and Haddiscoe on the Norwich to Lowestoft line, late 1980s. Stuart Mackay Collection.
E51252 + 54352 at Kiln Lane north of Ely with a Norwich working, 13th March 1989. Nicholas Youngman.
E51252 at Ely on June 7 1989. John Carter.
A two-car Class 101 (unit 76, presumably 51252 + 54352) makes a smokey exit from Norwich with a Yarmouth service in the summer of 1990. Note the red buffer beam. Bob Belcher.
A Met-Camm DMBS and driver trailer and Class 110 in Doncaster Works in 1978, probably during the open day on June 17th. Does '52' help identify the unknown DMBS vehicle partially seen on the left? There were four Met-Camm DMBSs ending in 52 at the time; 50152, 50252, 51252 and 51452. The right hand inward opening van door narrows it down to the latter two. Of those 51452 was a blue grey WR vehicle at the time, which means this is almost certainly 51252 (see image 16562). John Law.
In rapidly fading Winter sunlight, cars E56404 E51252 call at Tyne Dock with the 15:30 Newcastle - South Shields on 14/2/81. British Rail services came to an end soon after in May 1981 to make way for the Tyneside Metro system. Graeme Phillips Collection.
E56083 + E51252 at Scotswood on the now closed route along the north bank of the Tyne on 1982-09-25. John Carter.
105/101 hybrid set 76 (presumably 54115 + 51252) on the 08:31 Colchester - Sudbury awaits departure at Colchester on Tuesday 11th March 1986. Colin Brooks.
Class 105 54115 is seen coupled to a Class 101 DMBS (presumably 51252) at Tyseley on 12.04.1986. Andy Cole.
Class 101 Driving Trailer 54352 of set 76 (and presumably 51252) at Norwich Crown Point Depot. The DT was later to be found in 101659. Undated. Mac Winfield.
Two two-car Class 101s, set 76 (54368 + 51252) and a NSE-livered twin, seen at Whittlington Junction on 25 August 1990. Stuart Mackay Collection.
