M52042 + M51927 are the first of three power twins forming a Sunday excursion from the Lancashire area to Birmingham Snow Hill seen east of West Bromwich on 26 April 1964. Michael Mensing.
Seeing I had a camera, the driver of the Class 108 DMU waiting in platform 3 at Wigan North Western with the next service to Liverpool Lime Street invited me into the cab of car 52042 where I took this photo. In the foreground is the large wheel for the parking brake, behind is the red emergency brake and the silver lever is used by the driver to control the train's vacuum brakes. March 1982 S Gaskell.
