A three-car Met-Camm DMU (E50252 closest) stabled in the centre road of Whitby station, September 1972. Mel Smith.
About to call at Thornaby Station is a Class 101 Met-Camm DMU formed of 53252 and 51515. I had just paid my £1 which gained me entrance to Thornaby TMD, which you could do in those days, wandering around a large TMD taking photographs etc. AndrewHA.
E53252 still carries its former Norwich set number 73 on the front window (which was with trailer E54404). At Snailwell on 30 July 1989. Nicholas Youngman.
Metro-Cammell Class "101" Local Passenger "power twin" 2-car dmu Nos.E50182 + E50252, both of the 1957 batch, in Rail Blue livery with all yellow front ends, at Whitby Town having just arrived on a service from Darlington via Middlesbrough and Battersby, 03/76. Hugh Llewelyn.
Metro-Cammell Class 101 power-twin E50182 + E50252 at Whitby Town having just arrived on a service from Darlington via Middlesbrough and Battersby in March 1976. Note the number on the lower body to the right of the cab door - possibly 'No 454', something that could be found on other vehicle in the area at the time. Hugh Llewelyn.
A Met-Camm DMBS and driver trailer and Class 110 in Doncaster Works in 1978, probably during the open day on June 17th. Does '52' help identify the unknown DMBS vehicle partially seen on the left? There were four Met-Camm DMBSs ending in 52 at the time; 50152, 50252, 51252 and 51452. The right hand inward opening van door narrows it down to the latter two. Of those 51452 was a blue grey WR vehicle at the time, which means this is almost certainly 51252 (see image 16562). John Law.
A Class 101 / 105 formation with E54404 + E53252 / E53359 + E54122 is seen near Ely on December 22nd, 1987. Nicholas Youngman.
On 23rd August 1988, Metropolitan-Cammell Class 101 units 53237 - 53252 form a morning Middlesbrough - Whitby Esk Valley service, approaching Glaisdale station and the single-line token exchange/crossing point with an awaiting service from Whitby to Middlesbrough. Gordon Edgar.
