The 10:00 Newcastle - South Shields awaits departure from Newcastle Central station on the 25th May 1981 with E56406 at the front. Hamish Stevenson.
A smart pair of 2-car Metro-Cammell sets with E54406 nearest the camera stands at Filey on 3rd September 1983 before heading back to Scarborough with a special service from the annual Filey Convention. The station at this date still had it's footbridge, crossing gates, semaphore signals and signalbox. Syd Young.
On 02/06/1983, Class 101 cars E56054 E51219 E51247 E54406 stand in sidings within Darlington station. The vehicle nearest the camera still carries its original 56xxx number, but would be renumbered to 54xxx during 1983 as has already happened with the far vehicle and with most others in the series that year.
