Cravens car 51288, new to Cambridge in 1958 is seen with trailer 56442 at New Holland Town on 13 June 1981 working a New Holland Pier to Cleethorpes service. After transfer to Lincoln depot in 1964 this car did not move depots again until withdrawn in September 1984. The trailer lasted until 1986. The station was closed from 24 June 1981 after opening of the Humber Bridge, withdrawal of the ferry service from Hull and diversion of the train service directly to Barton on Humber. Jeremy Chapter.
Car 51288, new to Cambridge in 1958 is seen with trailer 56442 at New Holland Pier on 13 June 1981 waiting to depart for Cleethorpes. Lincoln allocated Cravens class 105 dmu made up of cars E51284 + E54442, enter Buxworth cutting, with Sheffield on it's blind, is returning from New Mills Central with a Hope Valley stopping service on 29th November 1985. Not a particularly good photograph by any means, but one of the few i have of this class being Eastern region allocated, they worked the local services through the Hope Valley and terminated at New Mills Central. A pair of Cravens 2-car Class 105 dmu sets are an unusual sight approaching Chichester on 21 June 1986. This was 1Z27 Stevenage-Portsmouth Harbour and return, the "Vectis Velocipede" railtour. The two 2-car units consisted of vehicles 54122 + 53359 and 54442 + 51284. The route taken by the railtour was via Willesden HL, Kensington Olympia, Epsom and Leatherhead. Participants on the tour were given the option of visiting the Isle of Wight once they had arrived at Portsmouth Harbour, and sampling the railways on the island. Lewis Bevan.
