A class 115 set on a Marylebone to High Wycombe service has just stopped at Gerrards Cross in summer 1986. We can see the centre roads looking very unused. These were removed in 1989 which allowed the Up platform to be extended outwards over the nearest two tracks, leaving a conventional two track station in place. Murray Liston.
A class 115 set approaches Gerrards Cross in 1986. Taken from Packhorse Road, everything from here to the Marsham Lane bridge in the distance was buried to create land for a Tesco store with the line contained in a tunnel under the site. Things didn’t go to plan however with the tunnel collapsing during construction in 2005 and a revised design eventually used which delayed the whole project by about 5 years. At the time this photo was taken the centre roads were still in place here but had not been used for a while, they were removed in 1989. Murray Liston.
On an afternoon out to photograph the class 115 Chiltern DMUs in 1986, a 4 car set on a High Wycombe to Marylebone service rasps away to Town from Seer Green & Jordans station. Murray Liston.

This slide was taken from the roof of a Land Rover complete with ladder and appropriate roof rack with the permission of the friendly owner and shows 3 class 115 sets crossing just outside London Marylebone on 13 September 1986. Steam in the background gives a clue for the presence of photographers on this day - a Marylebone to Tyseley special, The Tysleley Connection. Peter Tandy.
At Fritwell on the Chiltern Line's Ardley Bank on Sunday 2 November 1986 there were more photographers and once again I suspect that I was alone in taking this picture of a class 115 returning to Marylebone from Banbury. We all were waiting for another steam special heading for Stratford-upon-Avon this time hauled by 4468 Mallard. Peter Tandy.
On Sunday 2 November 1986 I went to a spot at Fritwell on Ardley Bank, a few miles north of Bicester on the then single track Chilterm line. The first train along was a class 115 DMU working a Marylebone to Banbury service and although there were many other photographers present I doubt if anyone else took a picture of it. The main focus of attention was on 4472 Flying Scotsman working a Marylebone to Stratford-upon-Avon dining train which came along a short while after the DMU had cleared Aynho Junction. Peter Tandy.

The original 645 transparency of this image was found in an old developing tray in the spare room once used as my darkroom and I thought it worth scanning. I've no idea when it was taken but circa late 1980s and was obviously from Kings Sutton, taken in the early evening on a slightly misty day. The collection of vehicles heading for Banbury ( 115/108 and 101/suburban hybrids) is best described as a mish-mash both of colour schemes and classes. Peter Tandy.
