Par - Newquay

This 20 3/4 mile branch, also known as the Atlantic Coast Line, would be operated by Plymouth allocated DMUs. Some services - particularly in the early years - ran through to Bodmin Road.

I believe this pair to be 51578 and 51587 minus their regular centre trailer car. They are seen having just crossed the roadbridge over the former A30 between Roche and St. Columb Major and are working the 11.38 from Par to Newquay (NB this is a Sunday). Anthony Williams.

Class 116 DMU at Luxulyan

21st July 1973

An interesting Combination of DMU's is seen at Luxulyan Station possibly on a Newquay to Par service on the 21st of July 1973. The leading car is labelled as set P356 and thus it is likely to be Class 116 DMBS 50865. It is followed by two Cross-Country sets, the roof vents indicate that the first is a 120 and the second a 119. Then there is another plain blue car in the rear. The KDH Archive.

15/5/74 at Par. A class 120 dmu shortened to a 2 car unit waits for its next turn on the Newquay branch. Set P554 is presumably formed of 51575 + 51584. Stephen Burdett.

The 18.55 arrival from Newquay is seen at Par on 17 August 1976. Formed of a GRC&W Cross-Country set, the closest vehicle with one oval and one 'cut' buffer is presumably 51091. Tom Burnham.
