DMUs were introduced to these services on 17 June 1957 along with other Western Region local services in the Birmingham area. Derby suburban triples (Class 116s) were used allocated to Tyseley depot.
Some services ran beyond Kidderminster to Bewdley, and Kidderminster was also served by DMUs on services to destinations such as Worcester.
In January 1963 the route became part of the London Midland Region.

A very poor image of a Tyseley Class 101 passing the NCL depot at Lye on a morning Birmingham to Kidderminster working. May 1971 Andrew Cope.
I think my father was photographing these services in conjunction with the closure of Birmingham Snow Hill. In this one a Tyseley single car DMU (TY055, presumably 55010) is seen about to depart on the 18.17 Langley Green To Birmingham Snow Hill whilst a Kidderminster service arrives (TY527, presumably 50119). Date is 3rd March 1972. The KDH Archive.

Tyseley Class 116 set TS545, led by DMBS M50819 (and presumably with 59346 + 50915) is seen heading for Kidderminster in Refurbished Livery of white with blue band, late 1970s / early 1980s. At the time BR ran some through services over the SVR from New Street on bank holidays. Graeme Phillips Collection.
A wintry 1979 view of the staggered platform at Cradley Heath previously known as Cradley Heath & Cradley with a 6 car 116 dmu preparing for the climb to Old Hill with a service from Kidderminster to Birmingham New Street. A Saturday afternoon working perhaps strengthened to cope with football fans for Birmingham City. All the buildings on the left bar one (Dunns Photographic) have been swept away and the up platform re-sited behind the photographer. Set TS510 is closest, presumably 50067 + 59010 + 50093. Stephen Burdett.
Class 116 DMU set TS501 (50097 and presumably 59001 + 50057) arriving into Kidderminster station, likely changing platforms to form a return working to Birmingham, on Tuesday 29 May 1979. David Russon.
Class 116 DMU set TS501 (presumably 50057 + 59001 + 50097) in Kidderminster station with a service to Birmingham on Tuesday 29 May 1979. David Russon.
A hybrid dmu formation with a class 100 DMBS, M50343, at the rear leaves platform 1 at Birmingham New Street heading for Kidderminster. 50343 was based at Tyseley from May 1975 until withdrawal in September 1981 having previously been based in Scotland. This photo was probably taken around 1980. The two Class 101 cars in the formation are presumably M59124 + M50332. Tony Walmsley.
Class 117 B429 (presumably 51409 + 59519 + 51367) arrives at Cradley Heath 6/10/1984 with a Kidderminster to Birmingham New Street service. The down platform came into use in January 1984. A new bus station was also being established adjacent to the station. Stephen Burdett.
A class 122/116 combination (55004 is the 122) approaches Langley Green with a Birmingham New Street to Kidderminster service on 20/9/1985. In the foreground is the branch to Oldbury used mainly for chlorine traffic. The station here was once known as Oldbury & Langley Green. Stephen Burdett.
A class 116 on a Birmingham New Street to Kidderminster service passes Rood End Yard near Langley Green on 25/2/1986. A youngster is evident in the cab and probably on a treat with his dad!! Stephen Burdett.
In 1986 the line from Smethwick West to Rowley Regis was still controlled by semaphore signals. This picture taken at Langley Green on 1 March 1986 shows Tyseley class 116 T524 passing the platform-based signal box and lower quadrant bracket signal as it towards Birmingham New Street from Kidderminster. The low speed arm of the signal controlled access to Rood Ends Goods Yard which served several industrial sites with daily trips from Bescot. Peter Tandy.
This picture taken a few minutes after https://railcar.co.uk/images/21316 on 1 March 1986 is of class 116 TS516 (presumably 53110 + 59595 ( a 127) + 53074) on a Birmingham to Kidderminster train passing the untidy area around the back of Langley Green signal box. The branch to Albright and Wilson's chemical works is prominent to the left of the picture. Peter Tandy.
This is a shot of the usual 3 coach class 116 forming a Birmingham New Street to Kidderminster service approaching Stourbridge Junction on 8 March 1986. The set number is TS514 presumably formed 53870 + 59629 + 53923. Also of interest is 25 205 in the sidings which would have been on standby duties should a northbound freight have needed banking assistance on the now-closed line through Dudley towards Bescot. There must have been such a train expected on this Saturday morning because there certainly wasn't a locomotive stabled here every week, at least on the weekends that I visited. Peter Tandy.
T401 (53886 + 59743 + 59724 + 51865) arrives at Old Hill with the 17:41 New St - Kidderminster, 11th May 1991. Gazza Prescott.
51151 + 59597 + 59625 + 51869 (T411) at Cradley Heath working the 18:16 Kidderminster - New St., 18th April 1992. Gazza Prescott.
