DMUs were introduced to the Bewdley services on 17 June 1957 along with other Western Region local services in the Birmingham area. Derby suburban triples (Class 116s) were used allocated to Tyseley depot.
Bewdley and Stourport-on-Severn were also served by DMUs on a variety of other services seen in the 1965 timetable below, including some taking that route to Hartlebury.
In January 1963 the route became part of the London Midland Region.
Passenger services were withdrawn in January 1970.

Stourport-on-Severn station on 5 April 1969. Train is the 13.45 to Kidderminster via Bewdley (reverse), formed of set TY538, presumably M51131 + 59441 + 51144. The lower ground on the left was the site of sidings leading down to a canal basin. The scene is now completely changed, with a housing estate where the railway used to be. Even St Michael's Church on the right was partly demolished in about 1980; it was begun to 1881 by George Gilbert Scott and was unfinished when it was consecrated in 1910. Note the red coloured seats inside the unit. Tom Burnham.
