3.  Order of priority for future schemes  (Contd.)

It was agreed that, in view of the urgency for obtaining authority for the six schemes listed, submissions be prepared in each case on the basis of savings and increased receipts only, full economic surveys to be compiled later.

Further agreed that in submissions for authority for both vehicles and maintenance depots, reference be made to the fact that the question of the withdrawal of passenger services does not arise in these cases.

A full discussion arose on the maintenance an fuelling facilities for the six schemes, and the decisions are recorded in Minute 622.

4.  Allocation of units being built at Derby and by Contractors

Revised schedule of allocation attached as Appendix "B".

5.  Diesel costings - Back-checking.
Bury - Bacup scheme

Mr.Nicholls reported that the back-checking of the Bury-Bacup scheme was proceeding satisfactorily but was not yet complete.

6.  Conveyance of parcels traffic

(a) West Cumberland Scheme - Mr.Gould stated that he was not yet able to report on the working of the three vans in the Manchester Part 1, Birmingham Part 2 and West Cumberland schemes.

(b) Manchester Part 2 scheme - Two vans authorised; delivery June 1959.

(c) St.Pancras scheme - Two vans authorised; delivery June 1959.

7.  Coupling together of units

Mr.Finlayson reported that two prototype cars were now being fitted with a special control system for testing.
